Ukrainian War Relief & Updates

Letter from Ukrainian Pastor to America

Speaking to our church members I asked “What is the most critical necessity - in your opinion -during a battle?”

And immediately I corrected, that the answer must not be  “spiritual”, not with the common phrases that Christians repeat so often without thinking about their meaning.

My question was more rhetorical because I had considered the answer myself. And the answer is, “connection”, “communication”.

After the Second World War, many history books were written, and many pictures were drawn about the horrors of war and

the brave soldiers. And one of such pictures is that in which military liaison officers are bravely carrying coils of wire on their backs under flying bullets in order to fix the communication connections between commanders and the soldiers who were operating the cannons.

Communication was always, and is, the most important thing at any time. Studying at Bible college under the management of DE when I was a teenager, I heard this phrase: “Communication is not what you say or preach, but what people hear”. It’s exceedingly true, because the future (the eternity) of the hearers depends on the clarity or ambiguity of the Gospel message that is communicated.

The same as during war; it’s important not only to define the coordinates where our soldiers are and where the enemies are, but also to deliver this information clearly, accurately, to the soldiers who perform the orders.

Dear American brothers and sisters, you are our military liaison officers! Carry us in your hands of prayer to our Lord. Ask for His mercy and protection for the believers in Christ, and especially for unbelievers, that they won't leave this war and this world without knowing God.

Pray for our government that they would bow on their knees and not just ask people (and nations) about giving us protection, but first of all ask the Lord.

Pray for our soldiers, for the protection for their souls and bodies, that they will be brave and wise.

Pray about the church of Christ, that it would be brave and effective on this spiritual front line of battle (Eph. 6:10-20) where it is placed by the Lord.

Pray especially about believers - refugees - that they would spread throughout Europe and bring the Word of Jesus as the apostles of the first century did.

Pray for your brother by blood and spirit, B, who is a connecting link between you and us. He takes care of the churches of our nation on your behalf. He is housing two refugee families in his home now.

Tell everybody what is going on here so that more people bow on their knees and ask for forgiveness of sins, protection of those who are weak, and deliverance from invaders that we could live in peace.
